THE GOOD NEWS IS A VERB. GO.
INTRODUCTION
Bill Monroe has given us a book that calls us back to the Great Commission. The
Great Commission consists of three divisions which are covered so adequately in
these pages. Number one is to make disciples; number two is to put them, by the
act of baptism, into a local general assembly called the church; and number
three is to train them. Then and only then did Christ promise to be with us
until the end.
For more than a quarter of a century, we have departed from that one great
mandate. The emphasis by many preachers today is the kingdom, or about people
hurting, or that you can be better if you so desire. We must remember, however,
that the Commission in this church age is to complete the Bride. When the Bride
is complete, the Lord Jesus, the Bridegroom, will come back for her. I believe
this book will help us to clearly see our task for these closing days in the
dispensation of the church.
I would remind Bible students that in Genesis Chapter One, God finished His work
of creation. In John 17:4, Jesus finished His work of redemption on the cross;
and when the Bride is complete, He will return to catch her out to inhabit the
new Jerusalem and eternity forever! God always finishes His work.
In John 15:16, we see the three touches of the Holy Spirit on the life of every
Christian. "You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you; I have ordained you,
and I have commissioned you that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that
your fruit should remain."
I believe that thousands of pastors in America and other countries will become
more faithful to the Great Commission as a result of this book. Thank you, Bill,
for giving of yourself and your talents to help us do that which the Lord Jesus
Himself commanded and modeled 2000 years ago.
